6 days and nights in and around beautiful Nice, France, in the
very heart of the French Riviera.
Nice awaits our November arrival in true Mediterranean style with its mix of authentic city character, old world flair, year-round sunshine, vibrant street life and stunning seaside location. As early as the 1700s, Nice beckoned Europe's aristocrats in search of the sea and the simple joy of a balmy beach day in the Mediterranean climate. Still today, nothing compares to a leisurely stroll along the Promenade des Anglais. Always in flower, this wonderful walk follows along the Baie des Anges with the beaches on one side and luxury hotels such as Hotel Le Negresco on the other. Even in the winter the cafe terraces are filled with people happily drinking and eating. Let your imagination float away to centuries past as you end the day with a mesmerizing sunset over the Med.
But that’s not all! Nice is a city of art and culture and, after Paris, has the most museums in France. The architecture is astonishing with the wild exaggerations of the Belle Epoque style or the Baroque influenced houses and mansions on the hillside. The only way to get to know the real Nice is by strolling through the ochre-colored streets listening to the "Nicois" speaking their own language (Nissart) and by tasting their savory cooking. Each day on the Cours Saleya there is the great flower market, and fruits and vegetables are also sold in the mornings. Each quarter in Nice is alive with markets, boutiques, and restaurants making the whole city a delight to discover.
We will be staying at the iconic 5-star luxury Hotel Le Negresco, a prominent landmark perfectly located on the Promenade des Anglais overlooking the Baie des Anges. The Negresco is part hotel and part museum. It was recently renovated with all the latest techno necessities, while also housing an impressive collection of museum-worthy antiques, paintings, and sculptures. It continues to be the destination of choice for politicians, Hollywood stars, and royalty.
